Pinao, the largest dragonfly in the United States, has a wingspan of up to 6 inches. They were once widespread throughout the Hawaiian Islands. However, due to habitat loss and predation from introduced species they tend to be found in mostly high elevations. Where mosquito fish were introduced, you do not find our native Pinao. You can help preserve this native species by NOT releasing unwanted fish into streams.
